This is the second time I have visited Japan to take part in a month-long ceramic practice.
This time I was on a shino course with the Japanese master Setsuro Shibata at the Home of Clay Art (HO-CA) in Tajimi.
Both in Tajimi and other ceramic centers, I visited dozens of museums with works by the greatest Japanese masters, including those with the title of National Treasure of Japan. I walked along the route of climbing kilns (noborigama), built on hills and hill slopes.
I had the great pleasure of turning on a potter's wheel, on which worked the ceramist Arakawa Toyozo, about whom the movie "Shino and the Old Man" was made.
I used the clay that the master himself worked with. I visited Bizen, Toki, Seto, Tajimi, Shigaraki, Kyoto, Tokyo.
My Japanese ceramic experience I use my daily work with clay in Hopi House studio.
You are more than welcome.
